Theme: "Digital Scholarship andCollection Development: Crossroads and
Intersections"
Background
The Acquisition and Collection Development Section isseeking proposals for
papers to be presented at the IFLA World Library andInformation Congress in
Athens, Greece, from August 24-30, 2019. This openprogram is co-sponsored by
the IFLA’s Digital Humanities – Digital Scholarship Special InterestGroup .
At variouspoints of the Digital Scholarship process, libraries are involved in
this workin ways that are specific to their parent institution. In particular,
librarycollections have been increasingly supporting the advancement and
progressiveexpansion of Digital Scholarship during the last decade. Digital
scholarswork in academic departments, institutional centers and labs, or
independently.In many cases, their work may be with large corpora of digital
texts, digitalimages, audiovisual materials, raw data sets, geospatial data,
born-digitalmaterials and other types of digital content curated by libraries:
content thatis either already part of existing library collections or that is
proactivelyacquired by libraries for specific digital scholarship projects.
During atwo-hour open session at 2019 WLIC in Athens, this program will
explorecrossroads and intersections between Digital Scholarship and Collection
Developmentin libraries.
Submission Guidelines
Fullabstracts (in any of IFLA’s official languages ) of up to 500 wordsshould
be submitted for review by members of the Section.
Theabstracts (and finished presentation) will be original, previously
unpublishedwork.

Please note:
At least oneof the paper’s authors must be present to deliver a summary of the
paperduring the program in Athens. Abstracts should only be submitted with
theunderstanding that the expenses of attending the conference will be
theresponsibility of the author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers.
All papersthat are presented at the WLIC 2019 will be made available online via
the IFLA Library underthe Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license .
Authors ofaccepted papers must complete the IFLA Authors’ Permission Form .
Allexpenses, including registration for the conference, travel,
accommodationetc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No
financial supportcan be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation letter can
be issued toauthor(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers.
