Hofbibliothek Donaueschingen. Naeheres unter
http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~graf/#kulturgut

Books from the Donaueschingen Library
A Bold and Innovative Move at Bloomsbury
Around 500 lots from the renowned Donaueschingen Library, which was the
biggest private library to come on to the market in the 20th century,
will be sold at
Bloomsbury Book Auctions on Thursday 26th September 2002.
This will be the first time since the 1970's that a British auction
house has waved the Buyer's Premium. 'Heritage Bookshop from the United
States bought this fine
old collection in conjunction with Bernard J Shapero Rare Books, and we
have decided to sell a portion at Bloomsbury Book Auctions,' explained
David Brass of
Heritage Bookshop. 'The auction house has agreed to do away with the
Buyers' Premium for this sale and the reserves will be disclosed.'
The Furstlich Furstenbergische Hofbibliothek at Donaueschingen in
Germany, was a magnificent library which was started in the 15th century
and was added to by
subsequent generations for 400 years. The beauty of the library is not
simply that it was an old private collection, but that it also covered a
wide variety of subjects
and the majority of books still have their original bindings.
Bloomsbury Book Auctions is the largest specialist book auctioneers in
Europe. Rupert Powell the managing director said, 'We are delighted to
be able to offer
items of such a distinguished pedigree, with no Buyer's Premium.'
