Dear members of InetBib,
The Library of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea is urgently
looking for a maternity leave replacement for the position of Library Assistant
starting beginning of May until September 2012 with the possibility of
extension of up to a year. Official working language is English.
Major duties comprise:
* Receive, and file/store publications, periodicals, reports, journals,
monographs, documents, and donations to the library; confirm receipt of
publications; following-up with publishers on delays, missing issues, claims,
etc.; create and process new records in the integrated library system for
serial publications received; prepare and disseminate the monthly acquisitions
lists to judges, staff and select external users.
* Respond to enquiries, including legal related search, for reference
assistance whether from a library patron within the Tribunal or, via email,
telephone or fax, analyzing the nature and urgency of the request, identifying
and locating resources by searching the integrated library system, various
specialized databases, and/or websites. Prepare bibliographical lists.
Communicate in both official languages.
* Liaise with Information Technology support re issues related to
electronic services (Library Portal and Electronic Research databases), and
assist patrons in their use.
* Prepare monthly invoices for payment by the Finance unit, ensuring that
library obligations and expenditures are properly executed by verifying that
all charges are accurate and match amounts obligated according to each purchase
order. Communicate with vendors to solve problems relating to invoices when
necessary. Monitor budget appropriation for binding.
