Im Rahmen der ersten internationalen Summerschool 2008 bietet die
Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart (HdM) folgenden englischsprachigen
Workshop zum Thema E-Publishing an. Das Angebot steht sowohl Studierenden
als auch Berufstätigen offen.

Workshop "Electronic Publishing: Managing Scholarly Information in Today's
Electronic Environment"

This workshop will look at the current trends in the scientific,
technical, and medical publishing (STM) industry. Particularly emphasis
will be given to understanding the changes that are occurring in the
dissemination of scholarly information.

The course is intended to be highly interactive, including discussions as
well as the analysis of several industry study cases in small groups.


Referent:
Prof. John J. Regazzi

Dr. John J. Regazzi has been professor at the College of Information and
Computer Science at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University (New
York) since 2005, after he retired as CEO of the U.S. division of
Elsevier, one of the world’s largest publisher of scientific, technical
and health information. At Elsevier, Dr. Regazzi made important
contributions to the development of Science Direct, a large scientific
full-text article database, and Scirus, a powerful search engine for
scientific content.

Teilnehmer sind eingeladen, sich am 26.06.2008 einer Exkursion zu
e-Publishing/Digitalisierungs-Dienstleistern im Raum
Heidelberg anschließen (26.06.2008).

Im Rahmen der Summerschool findet noch ein vorhergehender
deutschsprachiger Workshop zu "Management und Technik Digitaler
Bibliotheken" statt, der zusätzlich belegt werden kann. (19. - 21.06.2008)
