£36k - £43k + excellent benefits



European Collections is an important new section, bringing Eastern and
Western European work together for the first time. For an individual with
the right blend of leadership, research and management skills, this new
appointment will enable you to play a key role reflecting the many changes
to the political, cultural and economic map of Europe in the last ten years.



Already, the individual country collections at the Library rival, and in
some cases surpass, those in

the national libraries of many European countries. Your role will be to
shape and develop this vital area, for both scholarly and wider audiences.



At the same time, you will lead and manage our European curatorial resource
and manage non-staff

budgets. That's why we expect you to have had around seven years' experience
in a research environment, including some in a managerial capacity.
Knowledge of two or more modern languages, besides English, is also
required.



This role will give you an outstanding opportunity to manage and initiate
change at a time when the British Library is strongly committed to the
continuous modernisation of our services and processes.
