Neues von "Google Print"

Die Presse berichtete von der Buchmesse (die jungen Milliardaere Brin & Page
waren selber dort): Google wird konkreter mit dem neuen "Print"-Service:

Interessant ist schon gleich der erste Satz:
"Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it
universally
accessible and useful."
Sowas ähnliches, dachten wir ja immer, hätte auf unseren Fahnen zu stehen.
Also
der neue, selbsternannte Weltbibliothekar.

Es geht weiter:
"Since a lot of the world's information isn't yet online, we're helping to get
it
there. Google Print puts the content of books where you can find it most
easily;
right in Google search results."
Also: Nur online-Information, die man per Google findet, ist gute
Information.
Zwar wird objektiv auf absehbare Zeit der größte Teil der gedruckten
Information
weiterhin nur in Bibliotheken zu finden sein, die jedoch bleiben unerwähnt
samt
ihren Katalogen (weil man dort weniges "most easily" findet?).

Nun gibt es aber auch eine ausführliche FAQ für die interessierten Verlage:

Und darin heißt es:

"2. How is my content protected?
Google will host all material on our secure servers. Pages displaying your
content have print, cut, copy, and save functionality disabled in order to
protect your content. In addition, you can choose how much of your book users
will be able to view over a 30 day period, from 20% of your content up to
100%.
Google Print is a book marketing program, as opposed to an online library, and
as
such your entire book will not be made available online unless you expressly
permit it."

An dieser einzigen Stelle taucht das Wort "library" auf, aber in einer Weise,
die
den Verlagen suggerieren könnte (ob mit Absicht oder ohne): Vertraut euch
Google
an, da ist euer Inhalt sicher (und findet seine Kunden), in Bibliotheken
nicht.

Es scheint, da kommt noch was auf uns zu.
