Information Specialist
Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research Vienna

The Knowledge Center (KC) of the Novartis Institute for BioMedical
Research in Vienna is aiming towards a predominantly digital library which
is used by our local as well as global customers. In your new position you
will assist the Head of Knowledge Center in his daily work.
This will involve supporting the implementation of ALEPH 500, a
consolidation of the physical library holdings and maintaining the library
stock. Further you contribute to the acquisition, cataloguing, circulation
and document delivery of information resources regardless of publication
type or data format. As a reference librarian you will also assist our
customers in literature searches and in trainings.

Your needed qualifications and experience:

Work experience in the sector of library and information management,
ideally in a R&D Pharma company or in a library specialising in the fields
of Life Sciences (chemistry, biology, medicine, etc.)

Very good IT-skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, Databases);
previous experience with preferentially ALEPH 500 or a comparably complex
integrated library system is mandatory

Above-average interest in all aspects of modern library and information
management

Knowledge of cataloguing and library standard formats

Accuracy, openness, team spirit, strong communication skills, a
service-minded attitude and willingness to further training

Excellent German and at least a working knowledge of English

(Partial) higher scientific education (preferentially Life Sciences) is of
advantage but not necessary
