The European copyright Directive-the last chapter. EBLIDA
workshop on the national implementation of the EU copyright
Directive. London, Friday 1 February 2002.
Programme available from
www.eblida.org/conferences/copyright/copyright.htm
The EU copyright Directive is now in the final, crucial stage of
transposition into the national copyright legislation of EU member
states and central and eastern candidate countries. This is the last
opportunity to influence your governments and to discuss progress
with European colleagues. The workshop will provide an update on
the current situation and an opportunity to discuss implementation
with rightholder representatives.
Who is the workshop for?
Librarians, information professionals, representatives from higher
education, archives and museums as well as allied user groups,
who are effected by the outcome of the Directive. Also of interest to
national policy makers who wish to be briefed on trends in national
implementation. Some knowledge of the principles of copyright is
recommended.
What will the workshop cover?
The European Commission will present their views on
implementation and there will be short progress reports from
representative countries. Authors and publishers are invited to
outline their concerns. Participants are encouraged to discuss the
issues, to swap ideas and to ask questions from the experts.
