NlightN for Libraries subscriptions

Hallo,

Saarbruecken

Matthias Müller

>Dear Herr Mueller,
>
>Thank you for your inquiry. I am enclosing with this fax a copy of the
>brochure for NlightN for Libraries and copies of our order forms. (I will
>also send, by airmail, original copies of these.) Please accept my
>apologies for not responding to you in German.

>NlightN for Libraries is an end-user oriented, easy-to-use, Web-based
>service which, in a single search, searches over 300 databases, plus news,
>an online bookstore, a reference collection, and the Web. A subscription to
>NlightN for Libraries provides unlimited access to 25 of the databases, with
>pay-per-view access to the other 300+ databases. Individual users can
>establish their own accounts to pay for the pay-per-view usage using their
>credit cards. In addition to the direct access, the system provides
>pointers to reference tools already in the library's collection. If a
>library has a database available in some other form (in print, on its PAC,
>on CD-ROM, etc.) we provide pointers to those tools. In this way, NlightN
>allows a library to take fuller advantage of its current holdings, as well
>as providing access to the extensive NlightN collection.
>
>There is a sample of NlightN for Libraries at http://libraries.nlightn.com.
> We encourage anyone who might be interested to give it a try. It contains
>a sample of about 60 of the 300+ databases on the full NlightN for Libraries
>service.
>
>We have two pricing plans. For in-library use, the price starts at US$995
>for one terminal (prices for higher numbers of terminals is given on the
>enclosed order form). For campus-wide access the annual subscription fee
>is $1/FTE student, with first year usage capped at US$4,995.
>
>Unfortunately for non-US institutions, at the moment, we cannot include
>Medline among the "free" databases because for all Medline usage outside of
>the United States the US National Library of Medicine applies a substantial
>surcharge. We are in the process of determining a pricing structure for
>organizations such as yours which will meet the National Library of
>Medicine's requirements and, at the same time, allow Medline to be included.
> In the meantime, the above prices will apply, but Medline will be one of
>the pay-per-view databases.
>
>We hope we may be of service to you. If you have any questions, I can be
>contacted at ran _at__ nlightn.com or by phone at 703-904-1014, or by Fax at
>703-904-8238.

>Sincerely Yours,
