InetBib is an electronic mailing list. I launched InetBib in May 1994 at the Library of the Technische Universität Dortmund. The original idea was to support librarians using the Internet. Nowadays most people are able to use the Internet. But many projects are related to it and the objective of InetBib is to prevent reinventing the wheel. InetBib is a communication platform to hear about new projects and to co-ordinate them. Currently more than 8000 people are subscribed to InetBib.
Since 1996 there have been several InetBib Conferences with the same goal: to exchange information about the efficient use of the Internet. When we organise a conference we make a point of two things: First there must be an attractive agenda. Secondly the well being of the visitors, the speakers and the exhibitors is very important. Only in a pleasant atmosphere you are able to learn something new.
The conferences take place at a different location each time – each of them has its own character. We had been to Dortmund (of course), Potsdam, Cologne, Oldenburg, Göttingen, Frankfurt/Main, Bonn, Münster, Würzburg, Zürich, Berlin, Stuttgart and there is more to come. The conferences are self-supporting. If you want to know more about the conferences, please have a look at the conferences website (German).
For now this is the only English text at this site, I am sorry. Most of the e-mails written to InetBib are in German, but e-mails are also accepted in English, of course. If you like, feel free to subscribe. If you have any questions about InetBib, please send me an e-mail. I am the administrator of the list.
